Champion rider Kasun in major practice crash

Last year’s Champion rider at the Commando Challenge Supercross, Buddhika Kasun Silva, was involved in a major crash yesterday during a practice session and was rushed to the Wellawaya hospital in a serious condition.

He was immediately admitted to the Intensive Care Unit as he was unconscious and later transferred to the Embilipitiya hospital for further observation.

By late evening he had not regained consciousness according to hospital authorities.

Kasun Silva met with disaster while going over one of the major jumps as his machine stalled when it was still airborne.

He failed to control the machine in a desperate attempt and crashed onto the ground causing heavy damage to his head.
