Farewell to a gentleman cricketer and role model...

4 August, 2019

Fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekera was given a simple farewell at the end of Sri Lanka’s third and final ODI against Bangladesh at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday. He was one of the rare gentlemen cricketers in the Sri Lanka team and admired by everyone on and off the field for his exemplary conduct as both a player and human being. He did not forget to pay a tribute to the country’s first Test captain in Bandula Warnapura as the entire stadium gave him a standing ovation fit for a true son of the soil, a village boy who never lost his head in a sport corrupted by pomp and showmanship.
