Rugby coach Sanath Martis has been directed to seek counselling and anger-management before he could get back to his job after completing his six-month ban following an assault on a player from St. Peter’s College he was preparing for the season that ended last month.

Under his reinstatement conditions Martis will not be permitted to coach any Sri Lankan representative side for two years while the three-year suspension of his coach Educator license from World Rugby will remain in place.

Martis will now only be allowed to coach teams at school and club level but only after proving to Sri Lanka Rugby that he followed the counselling and anger-management course.

Martis was acknowledged as one of the most successful school team coaches until he assaulted a player from St. Peter’s College during a pre-season match that was captured by a social media photographer that went viral for World Rugby to withdraw his coach Educator license.
