Finally Home!

After spending 130 days in remand custody award winning novelist Shakthika Sathkumara returned home to his wife and children. Sathkumara was arrested for writing a story about homosexuality and child abuse in the Buddhist clergy in Sri Lanka which was published only on social media. He was charged under the ICCPR Act for inciting religious hatred and violating international human rights law. The arrest drew international condemnation with organisations mounting pressure calling his arrest an attempt to curtail artistic work.
