Air Force women win cricket title

The Air Force women’s cricket team ended as champions in the recently concluded Division One League tournament after convincingly defeating all the clubs in the 50-over encounters and the last match was drawn with Army due to the prevailing wet weather conditions. The players performed exceptionally well in batting and bowling departments while Yashoda Mendis, Chamari Polgampola and Dilani Manodara who are Sri Lanka players excelled in batting while Oshadi Ranasinghe and Tharuka Sehani excelled in the bowling. Meanwhile the Air Force women’s B team secured the fourth place in the Division One cricket tournament just behind Navy and and Army. Malsha Shehani and Harshani Maduwanthi excelled in the batting while Ruchini Samarasinghe and Chamila Peiris excelled in the bowling.

The table-leaders at the end of the tournament Air Force ‘A’ were crowned as the champions as they claimed the most number of points while Navy Sports Club were crowned runners-up in the tournament finishing second in the points table.
