Sri Lanka

18 August, 2019

Sri Lanka is an island in the Indian Ocean. Its capital is Sri Jayewardenepura, Kotte and the commercial capital is Colombo. The official language is Sinhala. The population is over 10 million. Our national bird is the Jungle Fowl and the national animal is the Giant Squirrel. The Blue Water Lily is the national flower and Na is its national tree. The longest river is Mahaweli and the highest mountain is Piduruthalagala. Bambarakanda is the highest waterfall.

There are many historical places in my country. It has a tropical weather throughout the year. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with a rich history. Different communities, such as Sinhalese, Christians, Tamils and Muslims live in the country.

Sri Lanka has many interesting places, such as forests, tanks, lakes, mountains, rivers and waterfalls. Farming and fishery are seen in my country. We export tea, rubber and coconuts as the main crops which brings us income. We have our main harbours in Colombo and Trincomalee. Our cultural heritage brings in tourists to our country. I love my country very much.
