The party leaders who have pledged their support to form the National Democratic Front (NDF) to contest for the upcoming Presidential Election met at the official residence of the Health Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne at Colombo yesterday but the discussions had ended without reaching a final consensus.
Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Ravi Karunanayake, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and Kabir Hashim had participated in the discussion on behalf of the UNP while Mano Ganesan, Rauff Hakeem and several other party leaders had also joined the discussion.
Reliable sources told the Sunday Observer that Party Leaders had extensively discussed on the Presidential Candidate. The majority of them had maintained the view that the UNP should reach a final consensus regarding its Presidential candidate immediately.
However, the discussion which lasted over three hours had ended without reaching a final consensus.
