Young Mahith Jayasumana the under-15 paddler from Lyceum International School is a rising star in table tennis and proved his class by winning many local and international championships.
His last visit overseas was to Thailand to compete in the ‘Set Thailand Junior and Cadet Open’ (Golden Series) which is a championship conducted by the International Table Tennis Federation. Playing in the under-15 age category he came up with brilliant performances that took him to the top of the group.
His achievements in this class also saw him being selected to play in the main section with 64 competitors. He was able to do well in the first round but failed to up to expectations losing in the second round to the experienced Korean Lee Juhyoung 11-8, 11-6, 11-3.
Mahith came under the guidance of his coach Lalith Perera.
