Gateway and Musaeus set for second showdown

The second annual netball fixture between Gateway College and Musaeus College for the Marie Musaeus-Rohini Alles Challenge Trophy will be played on September 7 at Gateway College courts in Ratmalana from 2.00 pm.

This year the organizers have added an extra event with the two schools from Kandy, Gateway College and Musaeus will be engaged in an exhibition match apart from the other two regular games. The under-15 game will be played first for 20 minutes with an interval of five minutes followed by the other game with the same duration.

The match for the coveted Trophy will commence at 3.50 pm and played for 48 minutes in four quarters consisting of 12 minutes each. These details were disclosed to the media at a briefing held on Wednesday at the SSC pavilion. Special awards will be presented to the Best Shooter, Best Centre and Best Defence Player in the under-20 age category. This match is certain to produce high quality netball as both teams are packed with well experienced players who have represented the country at junior level.

All eyes will be focused on two Gateway players Vishmika Ratnayake and Aneesha Perera who were the members of the Youth team at the Asian Youth Championships held in Japan while Tania Bollegala of Musaeus was a member of touring party to Australia with the Schools under-17 team.
