Sri Lanka Economic Summit : Workshop on Building a Resilient Economy

The progression of Sri Lanka’s economic development has faced abrupt interruptions in the past. Natural calamities, power crises, security threats, and numerous other shocks have all contributed to this.

The response has been insufficient and resulted in a negative impact on the country’s brand image. As a country, it is imperative that we work towards a stable country, and have favourable government policies – all which will help improve investor confidence.

The session on ‘Building a Resilient Economy’ at the Sri Lanka Economic Summit (SLES) 2019 on September 17 and 18, will explore the readiness of Sri Lanka’s institutions and businesses to be resilient.

It will also examine if Sri Lanka has the necessary infrastructure in place, and capacity to manage these risks. Deputy Executive Director, Asian Disaster Preparedness, Aslam Perwaiz, will be the keynote speaker at the panel discussion providing a regional perspectives. Other panelists will be former Army Commander, Gen. Mahesh Senanayake, Managing Director, Resource Management Associates, Tilak Syambalapitiya, Director, Agriculture Education Unit at the University of Peradeniya, Prof. Buddhi Marambe, CEO, National Insurance Trust Fund, Sri Lanka, Sanath C De Silva and Security Specialist, South Asia, International SOS, Kanisha Lad.

The session will be moderated by Founding Chair, LIRNE asia and Chairman, ICTA, Prof. Rohan Samarajiva.
