My school

1 September, 2019

My school is St. John Paul II English Medium College. It is near the Daduru Oya in the Chilaw Diocese. It is a private Catholic school run by the Bishop of Chilaw with the help of our Rector Rev. Fr. Neville Coonse. The administration is done by our Principal Noel Nonis. Rev. Fr. Dinesh Sovir is our Vice Rector. My school’s Vice Principal is Maurice. There are over 400 students and 25 teachers in my school. We are fortunate because we also have a Rev. Sister.

My school is very cool and beautiful with tall trees and lovely flower beds. There are classes from play-group to grade eight, and next year we will have grade nine too. My classroom is in the new building and I study in Grade 6. My class teacher is Miss Inuri Fernando. The primary grades are in the old building. In the future, my school will have a four storeyed building. We have three houses: Edmund, Marcus and Aloysius. I am in Marcus House. There are facilities in my school, such as a science room, a library, a music room, a band room and a small playground. We also have our own Western Band which plays at assembly everyday. It gives us an opportunity to display our talents in different ways. I feel very proud of my school whenever I sing the school anthem. I shall do my best to bring glory and honour to my school.
