Cancer Society’s ‘Op Shop’ Sale

The ‘Op Shop’ Sale by the Sri Lanka Cancer Society will be held on September 6 , 10.30 a.m at the Society’s headquarters at 37/25, Bullers Lane, Colombo 7, to commemorate its first anniversary. Clothes, books, toys, ceramic ware, furniture and costume jewellery are among the many items that will be on sale at reasonable prices at the sale, Chairperson, Public Education Committee, Sri Lanka Cancer Society, Indrani Nanayakkara said. The Op Shop at the Society’s headquarters is open to the public from 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. every Friday.

Explaining the role of the Cancer Society of Sri Lanka, Nanayakkara made it clear that it is a charitable organisation committed to the well being of cancer patients.

The society runs ‘Shantha Sevana’, a facility close to the Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama, which houses cancer patients, when the wards are overcrowded; providing free meals and accommodation. The end-of-life care hospice is also run by the Society.

All the proceeds from the OP Shop sale will be utilised to finance the work of the Society, she said, inviting the public to visit the sale.
