The renewal of Blue Bloodswas announced along with Selleck agreeing to do one more season. He later talked about his future plans with the show.
“Well, let me say publicly, they didn’t offer me a two-year deal, and I don’t know why,” he revealed. “I signed up for a year because that’s what they were offering. I love the show. Don’t tell CBS that because I got to be a good negotiator.”
The star revealed what it would take for him to quit the show. “Let me say that it’s not like you can get a new detective and bring him to the family dinner table,” said Selleck. “These people are related. So, as long as my fellow actors wanted to come back, and that was my only real criteria, I was coming back.”
Blue Bloodswill return on Friday, September 27 on CBS. We know that the show will have its 200th episode in the upcoming season.
Season 9’s finale was titled Something Blue where Eddie (Vanessa Ray) and Jamie (Will Estes) get married. The ceremony was something many fans were looking forward to, but the episode actually ended with Frank walking Eddie down the aisle. Many fans were angry and wondered if the next season will open with more of their wedding.
“I mean, I was there all day filming, so… I count it as a wedding!” Estes said to the statement that the scenes didn’t count as a wedding. He added, “We already did the vows at the dinner table…. But I’m grasping at straws. I got nothing.”
Selleck also revealed a reason why the wedding ceremony wasn’t the focus of the episode. “How are we going to beat Charles and Di splendour or pomp?” he said. “So you need some sort of conflict or concern or something to make that kind of scene work like with Eddie and Frank or something else.” Wahlberg shared a picture of the 200th dinner
Wahlberg gave a behind-the-scenes sneak peek to the family dinner for the 200th episode on Instagram. The picture showed a lot of familiar faces at the table including Selleck, Estes, Bridget Moynahan, Sami Gayle, and Tony Terraciano.
Treat Williams, who plays Lenny Ross, is at the table sitting next to Gayle for the scene. Wahlberg captioned the post with, “Shooting Family Dinner Scene number 200 today on the set of @bluebloods_cbs! Hard to believe we’ve been doing this for 10 seasons! #Blessed #Thankful#BlueBloods200.”
Blue Bloods’official Instagram account also shared a photo celebrating the benchmark episode. The cast is gathered together with a cake and the caption reads, “Congratulations to the cast and crew of #BlueBloods. Today we celebrate filming 200 episodes!”
