Rugby star Duminda appointed basketball trainer

Duminda de Silva has been appointed as the men’s basketball trainer of Sri Lanka for the SAG Games.

Duminda started his basketball career at St. Thomas’ College Gurutalawa and later crossed over to Trinity College where he took up to rugby and basketball.

He excelled at both basketball and rugby and represented the country in 1999.

He was also a Mr. Sri Lanka in modeling and wanted to study Law but was unfortunately deprived of entrance when he did not receive the additional 25 marks for international representation.

He is now attached to a bank in Colombo.

Duminda’s first club after school was Kandy SC were he polished his rugby and later played for CR and FC, CH and FC and Havelock SC.

He was also the Sri Lanka Sevens rugby team manager, was involved in coaching and a member of the Old Trinitians Rugby Scrummage.
