Friends Cycling Club gets a best friend

Friends Cycling Club of Kelaniya became the first cycling club in Sri Lanka to receive a boost for its riders when Ceylon Agro Industrial of Prima Group signed an agreement with them.

This was disclosed to the media by Sumith Balasooriya at a briefing on Wednesday. Addressing the media he further noted that his club will get the opportunity of fielding its riders in all Championships taking place in Sri Lanka.

Friends Cycling Club has produced many leading riders during the past few years and has also been the top Club winning most of the championships by their riders competing in almost all championships. But the riders and club faced financial hardships.

With the entry of Ceylon Agro as sponsor the Club is assured to rise to their former standards in the near future. According to the agreement signed by the sponsor all requirements faced by the riders will be taken care of according to Balasooriya. In addition the sponsor will also ake care of the accommodation of riders when participating in the outstations.

President of the Friends Cycling Club, Amal Rodrigo thanked Ceylon Agro Industrial for joining hands with them which also sets a new record for the sport in Sri Lanka by being the first Company to come forward as sponsor of a cycling club.
