Short drama festival

Come October 19 the Moratuwa Arts Forum to celebrate their 25th Anniversary year, apart from music, moves into a different route that of drama. The Forum is busy putting the finishing touches to their Short Drama Festival which will go on the boards at the Buddhist Hall, Moratuwa, at 6.30 p.m. There will be five dramas in all.

According to the project, committee the Drama Festival is entitled Muthu Ahurak and the dramas featured will be Vendesiya, Sekku Gedara, Apooru Madhusamaya and Yuga Bheeshana. These dramas are being directed by Lucky Deva (President of MAF), Rohan Priyadharshana, Kevin Sadhar and Kamal Dias. However the fifth drama is a special one Mithu Sumithuru directed by the M.J.F. Foundation and will be staged on invitation.

Invitations have gone out to many well-known dramatists and stage personalities to patronise the event. Drama in Moratuwa is far and few between and realising the importance of bridging the void the Moratuwa Arts Forum have come forward to present this Short Drama Festival with a view to creating a keen interest and uplifting young talent and also giving up and coming young Directors, Actors and Actresses the opportunity to display their versatility in drama. The project committee comprises Kevin Sudhar, Niresh Silva, Viranjan Perera, Jagath Devapriya and Kamal Dias. Tickets are moderately priced and are available at the Pubudu Bookshop, Church Road, Moratuwa, Multi Pharmacy & Luminex at Rawathawatte and also from the Project Committee Members.
