Royal win waterpolo second leg too

Royal College retained the 28th Dr. RL Hayman Water Polo Encounter trophy after winning the second leg over S. Thomas 7-6 held at the Sugathadasa Stadium pool yesterday. Royal won the first leg too 14-11 last week.

Royal took a 3-2 lead in the first quarter but the second and third quarters was closely fought out. Both side matched each other in attack and defence. Either side could score only one goal while the fourth quarter also saw either side score two goals each.

Thomians lead the overall tally with 16 wins while the Royalists have only nine wins. Three encounters, including the 2017 game, ended in draws. Omira Lokuge and Savinda Dissanayake played major roles in Royal’s win. (KR)
