University of Technology Sydney (UTS) Insearch decided to invest in Sri Lanka due to its capable and enthusiastic students and the country being a great place to do business, said UTS Insearch Chief Business Development Officer Peter Harris at media briefing to welcome the new principal of the UTS Insearch branch in Sri Lanka last week.

UTS Insearch is a top ranking young university in Australia, renowned for innovation, technology-based campus and practical and technology focused education. UTS opened its doors to Sri Lankan students recently to enable them to excel in higher education and develop a career path, he said.

“We are excited about our operations in Sri Lanka and its motivated students who are keen to pursue higher education and build a career. Sri Lanka needs a skilled and professional workforce for which UTS Insearch will extend its fullest support for the country to realise its dream,” Harris said.

Students who complete the first year at UTS Insearch Sri Lanka could complete their UTS degrees in Sydney.

Alison Hiscox, the principal of UTS Insearch Sri Lanka said the campus has been purpose built for the needs of UTS Insearch and it will offer programs to prepare students for their future education in Sydney. The development of the college is part of a US$ 2.1 million investment made in Sri Lanka by UTS Insearch.

“Sri Lankan students can spend an extra year in Sri Lanka developing their skills and academic knowledge before they come to Australia for further studies. The university will provide student assistance programs to enable a smooth transition,” Hiscox said. UTS Insearch Sri Lanka offers Diploma in Business, Engineering Information Technology and the UTS Foundation Studies program which prepares for entry to all UTS undergraduate courses. Classes commence on October 14.
