At the 2018 Local Government election, TMVP got 42,000 votes.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) will announce the decision on whom it will support at the presidential election this afternoon following its National Council meeting, a party official said.

Its leader MP Arumugam Thondaman has held discussions with key political parties in this regard.

The party has focused on 32 issues, especially the plight of estate workers, when considering the candidate it will back.
