Colombo Rotarians Par 3 Golf Classic on October 26

The Par 3 Golf Classic organized by Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan for the 4thsuccessive year is to tee off on October 26 at the Royal Colombo Golf Course with Dialog Enterprise as the sponsor.

The even is expected to be highly competitive one for all members of the RCGC according to the president of the club Shran Fernando. He further said that around 200 members will be seen in action on this day as it has been organized on a grand scale with many other activities to entertain all families of members and well wishers.

This is the only tourney organized by the Club as a Par 3 format to be played on 54 courses making it to be challenging for all participants.

The Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan in organising a tourney of this nature also plans to raise funds needed to help community development projects.

The president of the Rotary Club of Colombo Metropolitan said that it was a great opportunity for his Club to be associated in conducting the Dialog Enterprise Rotary Metro Par 3 which is one of the most looked forward events by all members of RCGC.

He said that this year the Club decided to work on the theme ‘Connecting Children for a Better Future’.

Part of the proceeds will be used to for the maintaining of the Child-Friendly Police Station at Ragama.

Other funds will be used to for manage the Lama Piyasa facility which houses the abused and neglected children and the differently-able for their recreational facilities.

There are other centers of this nature in Gamini Vidyalaya in Kelaniya, Methsevana, Thanamalwila and also to help children of caddies and minor staff of RCGC.

Group Chief Officer Dialog Axiata, Jeremy Huxtable said he was happy to be associated with RCGC sponsoring a prestigious tourney which is played by all in the best sporting spirit. Dialog is also one group that helps golfing clubs with the view to promoting the sport among school children and leading golfers in Sri Lanka.
