Homely ambience at Colombo Court

27 October, 2019

The Colombo Court Hotel & Spa experience was quite something with a many ups and very few downs.

The facilities in the hotel have definitely been designed to comfort every guest that enters through its doors - quite a warm and homely ambience. With varied dining options in its large accommodation space and simple but stylish build, there is no lack of warmth at this magnificent boutique hotel.

The staff, extremely courteous and pleasant, greeted and spoke in a friendly manner which helped make the experience much more comfortable (because it’s not always a very easy thing for us reviewers to do)

Upon arrival I was given a welcome drink, a ginger ale, which was, as brought to my attention, ‘Home Made’. The drink helped in mellowing out and preparing myself for the spa treatment.

The Amber Spa, the sanctum of luxurious well being… well almost. The room was awfully small and can make you feel slightly claustrophobic. However, props to the staff in the aroma of the room for its peaceful nature on an elevated scale. Almost a complete state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled. The treatments at the Spa are designed to rejuvenate and relax the tired mind and body. The Balinese treatment provides a transformative experience with much expertise, giving you the opportunity to unwind and reconnect with your inner-self. The Balinese experts assist you in finding a Spa treatment that’s suitable for you and your lifestyle while taking into consideration any specific areas of concentrated pressure. The treatments are carefully designed to cater to the guest’s requirements – be it reflexology, a full body treatment or a specialised Balinese treatment for total rejuvenation.

The 50 minute session was a complete relaxation experience like never before and helps you to refocus yourself.

Colombo Court currently has a 15% off on their spa treatments so go ahead and indulge yourself in the relaxated environment of the Amber Spa with a multitude of soothing and healing treatments.

Next up was the Dining experience at the hotel. Be it a romantic meal for two, a family event or business functions, Colombo Court offers a few dining options. You can either dine under the stars at the Cloud Café, have a glass of fine wine over at Grape Expectations, or simply unwind with a signature cocktail at the Loft bar. Additionally, you can also stop by for some shisha and tapas at the Amber poolside or indulge in an elegant dining experience at the Scarlet Room as well. The cuisine at all venues is inspired by global flavours and made with the freshest ingredients. The chic contemporary interior seamlessly blended into the concept of sustainability instantly provides a welcoming vibe at their venues.

The Loft Lounge Bar is where I chose to review as that was certainly the most different. The experience at the Loft Bar was a 4/5. The food was quite well done, kudos to the chef. A spicy chicken pizza mixed with jalapeños was excellent although slightly more seasoning would have enhanced it higher.

The flavour was rich, the portion was quite generous and the crust was exquisite. Additionally, the Banana Smoothie at the Bar was probably the best smoothie… ever.

The place is a great meet up spot to sit back, relax and chill with friends during the week or for a place to head to before your Friday night out.

The professional bartenders at the Loft Bar are maestros at concocting the best cocktails, mocktails and every drink imaginable.

The only downsides to the bar would be the awful house/trance type music which kills the visual vibe you receive. However, the staff were a friendly bunch of people with whom I enjoyed speaking to and were quite pleasant and well mannered.

The overall experience of the hotel and spa was excellent. Certainly a place to re-visit.
