Jian Yang is a passionate Barbie Doll collector who has amassed over 9,000 dolls sourced from over 50 countries. He began collecting them as a kid and has no intention of stopping. Visiting Sri Lanka in 2017 on a business travel, the Singaporean stayed at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

It was here that his claim to fame began when he prepared to experiment with creating clothing for his doll out of the hotel’s tissue. A snapshot on Instagram and a couple of likes later, Jian took his passion to viral status, creating stunning fashion masterpieces all out of tissue.

Coming back to where it all began, Jian launched his debut book - Flushable Fashion at the A&K Literature Festival, hosted by the Mount Lavinia Hotel on October 20. The book tells tales of Jian’s travel experiences and the stories they bring to life that inspired him to create flushable works of art. Witty and funny with a great sense of humour, Jian even created a dress for a Lady Lavinia character out of only a quarter roll of tissue.

The audience even got the chance to watch Jian in action as he crafted a red carpet worthy outfit for one of the dolls.
