Veteran Actress Chandra Kaluarachchi passed away on Friday (01) at the age of 76. The actress was also the wife of veteran musician Lakshman Wijesekara and the mother of Ama Wijesekara and Vihanga Wijesekara.
Kaluarachchi marked her entry to the Sri Lankan film industry in 1962 through her performance in Raththaran Putha. She was known for her outstanding performances in Welikathara (1971), Ira Madiyama (2003) and Nisala Gira (2007) and numerous notable roles in teledramas. She was most recognized for playing motherly characters on stage, film, radio and television serials
Her remains lie at No. 140/31 Kalapura, Templers Road, Mount Lavinia. The last rites will take place today (03) at 5.00 pm at the Dehiwala Mount Lavinia General Cemetry.
