CA Sri Lanka kicks off Business Plan competition

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) kicked off the Business Plan Competition 2020 by holding briefing sessions in Colombo and Kandy recently.

It was attended by 400 students sitting for the GCE Advanced Level examination.

Forty schools from Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Kandy participated in the briefing sessions where Senior Lecturer of the Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura Dr. Roshan Ajward elaborated on the rules and regulations of the competition, and also educated students on how to present an effective business plan, which is an important segment of the local GCE Advanced Level syllabus.

The briefing session in Colombo brought together around 300 students from 35 schools studying for the GCE AL Examination from the Commerce Stream (English Medium). The event in Colombo was held under the patronage of President of CA Sri Lanka, Jagath Perera, President of Sri Lanka Australia Chamber of Commerce, Kalum de Silva, and a Council Member of CA Sri Lanka Laknath Peiris.

At the briefing session held in Kandy, Associate Dean (International) of Queensland University of Technology, Andrew Paltridge and students from the Queensland University of Technology, Jesse Elias Christian, Harry Alan Bruce Jobberns, May Han Maung and Annabel Jane Phelan participated.

The Strategic Partner of the Business Plan Competition 2020 is the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The competition organised by CA Sri Lanka is held in association with the Sri Lanka Australia Chamber of Commerce (SLACC).

Binuri Gunawardena, Dewni Dayananda, Arunalie de Alwis and Gimasha Chandradasa of Musaeus College, Colombo adjudged the champions of the Business Plan Competition 2019 were presented scholarships by CA Sri Lanka to pursue a career in Chartered Accounting.
