The Sri Lanka Judo Federation has named an 18-member team for the South Asian Games (SAG) which will be held next month in Nepal.
The team is made up of nine men and nine women who are currently going through their final phases of preparation. Sri Lanka won one silver medal and six bronze medals at the last SAG held in India when 12 exponents took part compared to 18 this time.
Nuwan Dharmawardena who won the silver medal at the last SAG is this time contesting the 73kg category and his ambition is to win the gold with more experience.
He also contested the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland while Dilrukshi Jayawardena is the most senior in the tour party having won the bronze medal in her weight class of 78 kg at the last SAG.
