GMOA support for new Health Minister

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) extends its fullest support to newly appointed Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Minister Pavithra Vanniarachchi, GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said.

Addressing a press conference at the GMOA Headquarters in Colombo on Friday, he said that the GMOA wishes her for her all future endeavours. The GMOA is willing to discuss future activities with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the new Health Minister.

According to Dr. Aluthge, the GMOA handed over the organisation’s 20 proposals for sustainable development to all Presidential candidates before the Presidential Election.

President Rajapaksa expressed his willingness to implement them. The GMOA will extend its fullest support to the President to implement them.

The 20 proposals presented by the GMOA included gazetting the Minimum Standards for Medical Education, depoliticisation of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC), re-implementing the Government Pension system, signing agreements with foreign countries only with people’s mandate, bringing all Sri Lankans under a common law, exposing malpractices and corruptions in the health sector punishing all culprits, he added.
