Arrangements will be made to deliver the promises by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the people through his election manifesto, New Women’s and Children’s Affairs, Social Security, Health and Indigenous Medicine Minister Pavithra Vanniarachchi said, assuming duties at her office on Friday.

She said that she served as the Health Deputy Minister five years ago and delivered a satisfactory service to the public and the duties and the environment is not new to her.

Minister Vanniarachchi said the people do not like meaningless programs and behaviour.

They are intelligent. All steps will be taken to push the country forward according to the people’s wishes.

Attorney-at-Law Minister Vanniarachchi came into politics in 1990 and elected into Parliament in 1994 representing the Ratnapura district. She held cabinet ministerial portfolios from 1994 to 2014. She is the eldest daughter of a former Minister and former Governor of the North Western Province, Dharmadasa Vanniarachchi.
