The British Council library, Kandy hosted a lecture and presentation titled 'Migratory Birds' by Prof. Sarath Kotagama on Saturday, November 9.
Prof. Kotagama conducted a very interesting talk on bird migration patterns and wetlands in Sri Lanka. A related panelled exhibition was also on display for the audience. The session was attended by a very interested audience of ornithologists, zoologists and a host of students from the University of Peradeniya and schools in Kandy. The students said they found the section on wetlands most appropriate.
Prof. Kotagama spoke of the declining number of rare bird species and highly threatened species of birds which was enlightening and an eye opener.
