 Importance of education

The new Government has plans to improve education, and they have mentioned it in the election manifesto.

New ministers have been appointed for Education and Higher Education. They have agreed to improve higher education opportunities, modernise university curricula and build more universities. We must give our fullest support to implement these plans. Higher education is important for personal, social and economic development of the nation.

Education is the only thing that can remove corruption, unemployment and environmental issues. It is not about reading for a degree, it is about how you stand on your own feet.

Good education facilitates learning throughout one’s life.

D. Weeratunga,
Nugegoda.
