Sri Lanka win seven more Golds

Seven gold medals were secured by Sri Lanka which six from track and field events while one came from weightlifting on the sixth day of the ongoing South Asian Games in Katmandu Nepal yesterday.

In weightlifting Thimali Haputenna won the first gold in the 87kg weight category in the morning season.

Silver for Bhakthi

Bhakthi Karunasena grabbed the Silver medal in the women’s 50m Freestyle while Sandu Savindi took the Bronze in the same event.

Ramudi Samarakoon won Silver in the Women’s 800m Freestyle (9.34.42) as well as Bronze in the 50m Breaststroke (34.21).

Kiran Jasinghe won Bronze in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke (28.79) while Sandu Savindi – took Bronze in the Women’s 50m Freestyle (27.03).

Shevinda de Silva won Bronze in the men’s 100m Backstroke (56.11) while Senarathne took Bronze in the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (4.46.67).

Akalanka Peiris won the Silver in the Men’s 100m Backstroke (54.14s NR) while Bhakthi Karanasena took Silver in the Women’s 50m Freestyle (26.81s)
