Vivekanandan honoured by School for the Deaf

Former deaf sports star and distinguished past pupil of the School for the Deaf in Ratmalana, Shivantha Vivekanandan, became the first to be honoured by his al mater.

He received a merit award in appreciation of his yeomen service in putting up a successful recovery program for the School for the Deaf.

Vivekanandan has been the president of the Deaf School Past Pupils’ Association for the past 19 years in the history of 107 years of the school. He collected funds and used it in a significant way to uplift the standards of the school.

He was president of the Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association for eight years and a current consultant for the Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association.
