An employee-friendly environment with modern technology will be set up within the Department of Posts soon, Information and Communication Technology State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardhena said.
He was addressing the ‘Matara Philatelic Exhibition - 2019’ at the Matara main post office premises on Friday. Organised by the Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts, Deputy Postmaster General (Southern Province) office and the Matara main post office, the exhibition will be held till today.
The State Minister said the department should be modernised if they are to provide an improved service to the public.
“The political stability is important for a country. We will take every step to forge the country ahead and the foundation will be laid for that within the next three four months,” he said.
“The previous government had taken several positive decisions with regard to the Department of Posts. We will continue to implement the good decisions for the sake of the employees of the Postal Department,” he added.
