Royal Automobile Club Asia (RAC) the latest addition to Motor Racing Clubs was introduced in 2017 with the aim of promoting professionalism in motor sports events in Sri Lanka and to develop it as an industry.
RAC Asia is managed by a set of experienced personalities who were engaged in the sport as automobile competitors, officials, organizers and administrators with an experience of over three to four decades. They have been active participants in motorsports at local and international events.
The RAC Asia members took part as the RAC team and has been competing since 2019 February in Racing and Rallying. For these events the Club was represented by drivers and co-drivers in the calibre of Yasith Gamage, Kapila Nishantha, Rizmin Razik, Nadeera Jinasena and Dakshina Amarasinghe.
The RAC Asia come up with high class performances within a short period of time and it has been able to get the support of firms like ACBT, ECU, ASTROL and Dunlop who sponsored the club.
During the first season which began this year the team showed great confidence bringing good results competing in Speed Rally in Jaffna 2019 to be placed Overall 3rd Runners-up - Yasith Gamage and Dakshina Amarasinghe while Javid Wahab and Rizmin Razik took the 4th runners-up position.
Meanwhile in Group SL-GT cars up to 3500cc Yasith Gamage and Dakshina Amarasinghe were placed 2nd Runners-up, – Group T & J Open - Javid Wahab and Rizmin Razik won the overall championship.
Last February in the Mahagastota Hill Climb 2019 Nadeera Jinasena was declared the Best Driver of the Day in Group SL-GT Cars up to 3500cc
Meanwhile in Group SL-A Modified cars up to 1050cc Rizmin Razik was the Best Driver of the day at the Radella Hill Climb 2019. Yasith Gamage the winner in Group SL-GT cars up to 3500cc recorded the best timing of the day.
