A monitoring unit will be established in the Health Ministry to control dengue. A circular will be issued through the Ministry/Ministries which handle constructions seeking their assistance to prevent dengue mosquito breeding in construction sites, a Health Ministry spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, the decision was arrived at a recent discussion at the Health Ministry with the participation of Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi and other officials from the Health Ministry, Epidemiology Unit and the Dengue Control Unit.
The Health Minister requested the public to be vigilant on possible dengue mosquito breeding sites in their properties. She asked the public to extend support towards the Health Ministry’s dengue control program implemented at the national level. Construction sites, public places and schools have been identified as potential dengue breeding sites, the spokesman added.
