Vantage FA Cup soccer enters pre-quarters

The Vantage FA Cup the most prestigious soccer tournament in the island has reached its pre-quarter final stage with a few games left to be played this weekend.

The tournament sponsored by Ebony Holdings the Vantage garment producers attracted 827 teams from 63 football Leagues. The final is scheduled to be played on January 24, 2020 for which the venue is yet to be finalized.

Defending champions Army SC has won the prestigious FA Cup thrice in a row while Saunders SC holds the record with 21 FA Cup victories in the past. This year the cash award to the winners has been increased to Rs. 700,000 from the existing Rs. 500,000 and the runners-up is to receive a cash award of Rs. 500,000 according to the organisers.

The draw for the pre quarter finals:

Defender SC vs SL Police, Red Rose SC vs Civil Security, Blue Star SC vs Up Country Lion, Saunders SC vs winner of Solid SC vs Java Lane SC

Winners of the following matches to be played this weekend will qualify for the pre-quarters; Red Robbin vs New Youngs SC, Serenddib SC vs Prison SC, New Star SC vs YSSC, Renown SC vs Colombo SC, Liverpool SC vs Singing Fish SC, Sea Hawks SC vs Imaya Central, Red Sun SC vs St. Nickolas SC, Sarikkamulla SC vs Blue Eagles.
