Hiruni poised to take the ramp by storm

A keen athlete Hiruni has participated in track events, namely, the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 x 100 metres,

4 x 200 metres and 4 x 400 metres as

well as high and long jump events.

While studying at the Al Noor Islamic Indian School, she won third place in the 100 metres at an Island Schools Competition.

With her striking good looks it is no wonder that Hiruni Wijesinghe made it to the best 16 and thereafter to the top seven in the 'Miss Sri Lanka' for 'Miss International Beauty Pageant'. A remarkable achievement considering that this was Hiruni’s first foray into the world of beauty pageants, and she is just 18 years old!

Franchise holder for the pageant Roshan Perera and Creative Director Rozanne Dias Liyanage were instrumental in staging a spectacular finale to the pageant and the glittering event was held on November 7 , 2019 at Hotel Galadari, Colombo.

Hiruni learnt about the pageant from Social Media and through a friend. Devindya Jayasekera. She had no nesitation in entering for the contest, her confidence boosted by the whole hearted support of family and friends.

Participating as a novice in the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss International has been a great learning experience for Hiruni. She was able to pick up many tips about walking the ramp, projecting her personality, grooming and on many other areas of modelling and beauty culture. Being ranked at in the top seven has widened Hiruni’s horizons and she has been invited for photo shoots and modeling assignments. She has appeared in a photoshoot for A –Z Kevin for a Guinness World Record, where he is doing 100 portraits.

Beauty as well as brains - that is Hiruni Wijesinghe. She is reading for a travel and Tourism degree at the International Airline Ticketing Academy and it will be awarded by the University of Montreal , Canada. She already holds a diploma in Cabin crew, ticketing and reservations operations.

Hiruni had her secondary education at Lyceum International School, Yakkala and Al Noor Islamic Indian College in Abu Dhabi.She had the distinction of being the only Buddhist student in the school.

Living in Abu Dhabi was an exciting time and great learning experience for Hiruni. She was able to experience and learn the traditional Arabian and Islamic cultures, as well as have hands - on experience of modern culture.She is also a lover and student of oriental music.

A keen athlete Hiruni has participated in track events, namely the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 x 1100 metres,4x200 metres and 4 x 400 metres as well as high and long jump events. While studying at the Al Noor Islamic Indian School she won third place in the 100 metres s at an Island Schools Competition. She is also a basketball player and with her height is ideally suited for this game.In Sri Lanka she has also been a participant at the John Tarbet athletic championships.

With a future modeling and acting career in mind she is particular about her grooming and figure. She is on a low carb/high protein diet though there are exceptions to the rule .Pizzas and donuts certainly fall under the exceptions to the rule category! She also loves stringhoppers.

Living in the somewhat rural setting of Makola, Kiribathgoda, Hiruni lis environmental conscious and tries to do her bit for the environment.

Hiruni opts for smart , casual day wear and generally favours elegant pants and long, formal gowns for evening wear, as well as the sari.

For relaxation Hiruni spends time with her pet dogs Goofy and Roar. She also reads and prefers mystery and horror stories . 'Goose Bumps stories' are another favourite.

Angelina and Priyanka Chopra are Hiruni’s idols as well as Sharukh Khan.

Living with her parents and younger brother and sister in Makola Hiruni is looking forward to making a name for herself in modeling and acting. Youth Observer wishes her all the best!
