As the incidence of Dengue in Batticaloa is increasing, the youth from Maddakali to Seelamunai were engaged in a cleanup of the riverbank along the Bar Road in the Batticaloa Municipality area. They collected disposal waste that could hold water and segregated the garbage to facilitate recycling on Friday.
The Batticaloa District National Youth Service Council and the Consortium of Non-Government Organizations organised the event. In the Batticaloa district, from December 20 to 27, 182 people had been affected by the dengue, said Epidemiologist V. Gunarajasegaram.
