Havies beat Army 25-17

Havelocks did well to beat a gallant Army SC by 25 points to 17 in their Dialog Rugby League encounter played at Welisara yesterday.

Havelocks scored three tries, two conversions and two penalties while Army scored three tries and a conversion.

Havelocks led by just 10 points to 7 at half time.

Havelocks scored first through a try by Asitha Punchihewa with Prince Chamara making the conversion within the first 23 minutes of the game. Havelocks increased the lead when they earned a penalty and Chamara once again kicked right to go 10-0 up.

Army struck back when Sachin Gamage scored a try in the 33rd minute and Gayan Salinda added the extra points.

Havelocks increased the lead when Dilanka Perera scored a try early in the second half and Chamara made the conversion in the 45th minute.

They were awarded another penalty and Chamara kicked right to give Havelocks a 17-7 lead.

Army were never to be denied of another scoring opportunity and Dhanushka Thalwatta went over for an unconverted try in the 61st minute.

Havelocks went ahead once again when Zayan Sabar scored an unconverted try off a forwards rush.

Army finished off the game when Thusitha Senanayake scored the final try that was unconverted.
