Four times national table tennis champion and the number one seeded player in the Mercantile sector Chalitha Ranjana has received a shot in the arm and an encouragement to continue in the game by way of receiving a new TT table presented by Prime Sports India a leading sports company.
The experienced paddler from Seylan Bank said that the sponsorship is important to continue in his career.
Prime Sports India decided to present Ranjana a Turbo Jet brand TT table worth Rs.150,000 and this type of branded TT table is very special for the player.
“I really appreciate this donation from Prime Sports India Chairman Aruni Mittal. If any player gets this type of branded Table to practice on he or she will easily develop the skills,” said Chalitha.
“I know that TT players face many difficulties but administrators do not give their fullest support to the players. I am very disappointed with our administrators,” added Chalitha.
Chairman of the Githmi Sports Goods Ambalangoda AW Aruna Lal has decided to provide TT gears for a period of two years to Chalitha.
Unlike in cricket, TT players face many difficulties to continue in the sport. They cannot find a sponsor easily like in any other sport.
Chairman of the Prime Sports India Aruni Mittal said that he noted that Chalitha is a very dedicated player and won national titles four times. He also won two gold medals and a silver at the recently conducted Open tournament in New Zealand.
Anura Lal is Chalitha’s first coach when he was playing at Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda.
