Army’s boxers won the 94th National Championship on Friday at the Royal MAS Arena securing five gold medals one silver and three bronze medals as MAS Slimline ended in second place.
Army was also declared the most successful boxing club for 2019 having also won the Layton Cup and Clifford Cup.Army’s women boxers won three bronze medals.
The Most Outstanding Boxer of the Year award was won by WAR Sandakelum from the Army who beat HMP Silva of the Air Force in the 81kg final.
Sandakelum won the South Asian Games gold in the same weight class which was Sri Lanka’s first gold after 20 years.
