Commission to investigate incidents of political revenge; accepts complaints till Feb.20

Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate incidents of political revenge conducted through the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division and the Bribery Commission between the 8th of January 2015 and the 16th of November 2019, is now accepting complaints.

Accordingly, those who have been politically victimized during that period will be able to lodge complaints to the Commission.

Information or complaints can be communicated to the Commission in written form in all three languages and presented to room 210 of Block 2 at the BMICH premises in Colombo. The Commission will accept complaints till February 20. Information can also be conveyed via phone number 011-2665382.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Upali Abeyaratne has been appointed as the Chairman of the commission. The other members of the commission include retired Court of Appeal Justice Daya Chandrasiri Jayathilake and retired Inspector of Police Chandra Fernando.

The commission is tasked with looking into improper use of power, and influences by third parties on the Bribery Commission, the police financial crimes investigation division or the Police special investigations units.
