Chalitha and Oshadee bag top Mercantile table tennis awards

Chalitha Ranjana of Seylan Bank and Oshadee Gunasekara of Scienter Technologies were adjudged the most valuable players at the second annual Mercantile Table Tennis Association (MTTA) Colours Night held at Solis Hotel Kotte last week.

Both Chalitha and Oshadee are ranked number one in the MTTA ranking after successful tournaments results.

Chalitha the four time National champion with more international experience won the award for the second consecutive year where 56 players were awarded Colours and merit awards.

MAS Holdings continued to dominate MTTA tournaments and took away the best company award for the second consecutive year while Seylan Bank and Sysco Labs took the second and third places respectively.

Meanwhile the MTTA inducted its former Vice President from 2008 to 2013 the late Anton Silva into its Hall of Fame along with one of the most prolific players in the history of Sri Lanka, the former National champion Deepika Rodrigo.

Deepika the nine time National champion and Sri Lanka player started her career from a very young age at Mahamaya BMV in Kandy.

In the 2006 South Asian Games, Deepika won the Silver medal in the Open women’s category which stands as the highest achievement in Sri Lankan table tennis history.

She also represented Abans and Lake House in the Mercantile tournaments.
