Dialog holds forum to empower senior citizens

9 February, 2020

Dialog Axiata PLC held the Dialog Prashansa – Future Connect Forum recently to educate and empower senior citizens on digital technology and build confidence and competence among the community.

This forum partnered with Derana 60+ and took a holistic approach to the subject, targeting multiple areas of knowledge to benefit participants. Topics covered ranged from how to use a smartphone, adapting to a digital lifestyle via mobile applications, social networking, online research and other online services such as e-banking, e-commerce and government services.

The program follows Dialog’s successful launch of the Dialog Prashansa mobile package, a dedicated package for government service pensioners, in partnership with the Department of Pensions. The exclusive package includes a free smartphone, along with 200 on net minutes and 300 SMS free, with discounts on Roaming, IDD and VAS, in addition to a host of discounts for Asiri Hospitals and Doc 990, all for a price point as low as Rs. 638.

Group Chief Operating Officer, Dialog Axiata, Rainer Deutschmann said, “The launch of Dialog Prashansa, along with the success of the Future Connect Forum emphasise Dialog’s continuous efforts to cater to all communities in Sri Lanka, in order to further drive digital inclusivity for all and enrich lives and enterprises. It is also part of a larger roadmap to educate and empower all citizens to be digitally adept.”

Future instalments of the forum will be rolled out in all districts throughout the course of this year.

Dialog also digitalised the department of pensions processes and launched the ‘Sri Lanka Pensions App’ in partnership with the Department of Pensions on National Pensioners’ Day.
