9 February, 2020

Sussex College Network made a huge stride to produce professional preschool teachers in the country by initiating an English Language Improvement Workshop for preschool teachers in Ampara district.

A one-day workshop was conducted for 55 preschool teachers to enhance the quality and standard of their teaching methods which will be an investment for them.

Sussex College Network is one of Sri Lanka’s largest international school chains with international value and Lankan culture. It has fully funded this venture targeting to build up a set of professional preschool teachers to provide knowledgeable students for Grade I in private and government sector schools in the country.

“Our main objective is to produce professional preschool teachers in the country, which is a prime need for Sri Lanka. As Sussex College Network, we are operating 20 Colleges across the country, and are hopeful to continue the program in every College,” said Founder Chairman/CEO of the Sussex College Network Sunil Jayatissa.

The Early Childhood Development Coordinator attached to the Zonal Education Office, Ampara provided the academic assistance. Coordinator, Regional English Support Centre, Ampara S.P. Adihetti and In-service Advisor, Ampara S.L.N. Cyril were the resource persons.

The main objective of the program was to enhance competitive teachers in the preschool system, which provide students to Grade 1 for private and government schools.

All the participant preschool teachers were pleased with the knowledge gained through the workshop and requested that more workshops be conducted across the country in the future.

“This program is considered as another community service provided by our network," said Sussex College Network Founder/Chairman and CEO Sunil Jayatissa.
