Kandy march on over Army

Jason Dissanayake guided Kandy SC to another victory in the second round of the Dialog Rugby League beating Army SC 36-26 at Welisara yesterday.

The club from the Upcountry scored six tries and three conversions while the Army team managed four tries and three conversions.

The winners led 26-12 at the breather.

Army started the game with a try through Sudaraka Dikumbara in the third minute and Isuru Medagedara booted the conversion 7-0.

Kandy opened scoring in the seventh minute with their flanker Kavindu Perera touching down mid right and Tharinda Ratwatte made no mistake with the conversion 7-7.

Soon after, Kandy further extended their lead as Jason Dissanayke scored his first try of the match in style for Buddima Priyadarma to put over his first conversion 14-7.

In the 34th minute Army scored their second try through Danushka Thalwatte and thereafter Jason Dissanayake crashed through for a try off a rolling maul for Ratwatte to add the extra points.

However, after the first half Jason Dissanayake got into the action once again and scored his third try of the game for Buddhima to convert.Three minutes later Army scored when their foreign player Tomasi Caguaue crossed the line and Isuri Medagedara booted the extra points 31-19.

In the 72 minute Tharindu Chathuranga of Kandy scored his first try through a rolling maul. Later in the last stages Army scored another try through Tomasi Caguaue.
