Kids athletics championship 2020

16 February, 2020

Over 7,500 children participated in the All-island Schools' Kids Athletics Championship 2020 held at Jayathilake Stadium, Nawalapitiya recently.

Arranging kids’ day-to-day activities like walking, running and spinning in a fun way, can help meet their physical exercise requirement.

Children should engage in physical activity programs based on the Four F concept (Fun, Fitness,Fundamentals,Friendship), conducted in suitable environments, providing a balanced physical education. The nine records broken in the under 12 category and the 12 records broken in the under 14 category during the championship, showcased their talents.

At the 2020 All Island Kids Atheletics Championship, 2592 students from Grade three, 2592 students from Grade four and 2592 students from Grade five participated, representing all provinces.

The championship is part of Nestle’s Kids' Athletics Program. It is the physical activity component of the Nestlé Healthy Kids Program, which teaches school children about improved diets, healthy cooking, hydration, food safety and hygiene. Both programs are part of Nestlé’s global ‘Nestlé for Healthier Kids' initiated to lead healthier lives by 2030.
