In a game that saw a dozen tries being scored by both sides the game did not produce any spectacular moves as Police ended up worthy winners by 47 points to 31 over Army in their Dialog League second round game played at Police Park yesterday.

Police scored seven tries and six conversions while Army scored five tries and three conversions that earned a bonus point for both sides.

Army opened scoring in the third minute when a forwards rush saw Dhanuka Wijethilake go over with the ball. Sachin Gamage who attempted the conversion failed with the kick.

Thereafter it was all Police who did the scoring. Centre and foreign player Emosi Vunivosa was very devastating to find the openings and on spotting the opportunities to score passed the ball out. They scored first when he sent a long pass to Kasun Rajakaruna who went over unchallenged. Yohan Pieris succeeded with the conversion.

Rasith Silva scored his first of the three tries next when a sequence of moves saw him go through.

Their next try was also created by Vunivosa who sent Suranga Kasun over for an unconverted try.

At that point Police led 19-5 when Army scored next through their foreign player in Tomasi who displayed his solo efforts to score.

Police scored next through Primash Dhanushka in the 29th minute and with Pieirs converting it they increased the lead 26-12.

Army scored four minutes later through Tharindu Bandara and Police scored soon after through Rasith Silva to increase on the scores to 33-19 at half time.

Tomasi opened scoring for Army in the second half in the third minute but they were still far away from reaching the Police scores.

Once again Police and Army took turns to score through Rasith Silva and Ashan Bandara respectively to see the scores on 40-31 with Police leading.

The final try was scored by Vageeshan Weerasinghe and with the conversion by Pieris they piled up 47 points to 31 by Army.
