St. Peter’s College posted their second win in the current Dialog inter school rugby League as they routed Vidyartha College 34-3 at Nittawela yesterday.
The Peterites scored as many as six tries and converted two.
It was in the second half that Vidyartha began to crack and crumble as the Peterites ran the ball at every given opportunity to punch holes in the home team’s defences to run down four more tries.
Vidyartha tried desperately to cross the Peterite defences at various stages of the match but faced some hard tackling. The Peterites are tipped as one of the favourites in the running to lift the title and went into yesterday’s match after winning their opening game against Dharmaraja College by 52 points to 14.
The try scorers for the Peterites were Senura Perera, Thenuka Nanayakkara, Ishan Fernando and Ashel Ranasinghe.
Nanayakkara and Ranasinghe crossed the line twice.
