Grade one admissions circular and application released

The Education Ministry issued the circular containing instructions related to the admission of children to Grade One in government schools for the year 2021 today.

Accordingly parents or legal guardians, who wish to enrol their children into grade one of the government schools in 2021 should submit their applications to the relevant Heads of Schools by registered post to reach them before July 15th, 2020.

Applications should be prepared as per the specimen application form available with the circular. The circular described that the child, who wished to be admitted should have completed 5 years of age as at January 31st, 2021. Birth certificate of the child should be forwarded in confirmation of the same. Children whose age is 06 years or more as at 31st Jan. 2021 shall be admitted only if vacancies exist after the admission of children whose age is less than 06 years of age.

With the circular special attention is drawn to the children of security forces personnel, employing abroad, separated parents and a few other categories. Selections of students shall be made by an interview board, only if the number of applications received by the closing date is higher than the number of students that could be enrolled into grade one of the school. Having examined the applications received, the interview board shall award marks based on the criteria described by the circular.
