ANCL to illuminate Mihintale sacred site for 58th year

The historic sacred site Mihintalawa will be illuminated for the 58th consecutive year by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) during the Poson festival next week. The Lake House Aloka pooja this year will be part of the national Poson festival which will be held on the advice of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa under the direction of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who is also the Minister of Buddhist Affairs.

The Prime Minister will be the chief guest on the first day of the Mihintala Aloka Pooja, on June 4, while President Rajapaksa will inaugurate the Aloka pooja on Poya day - June 5.

The Aloka pooja was first held by Lake House in 1963 on the advice of the chief incumbent of Mihintala Raja Maha Vihara, Ven.Dr.Walawahengunawewa Dhammarathana Nayaka Thera at the time.

Dialog, National Lotteries Board and the Ceylon Electricity Board are the co-sponsors of the Aloka pooja.
